| Abstract | A new approach to carbon monoxide poisoning treatment based on laser-induced photodissociation of the carboxyhemoglobin is proposed. Using the simple model of laser tissue interaction the action spectra of laser radiation on carboxyhemoglobin and oxyhemoglobin of cutaneous blood vessels has been calculated. Despite of similarity and overlapping of carboxyhemoglobin and oxyhemoglobin action spectrum significant difference on quantum yields of photodissociation makes possible to develop a novel method of phototherapy of carbon monoxide poisoning. Criteria the efficiency of laser-induced photodissociation of carboxyhemoglobin under direct transcutaneous, intravenous or extracorporeal irradiation with laser light is considered. |
