Abstract In the paper we performed the analysis of the structures of optical fiber sensors designed to control the state of engineering and building constructions, considered the probable means of increasing their efficiency. The basic physical effects, which are used for measurement of deformation and stresses of controlled structures, are reviewed. The structure and operation principles of distributed vectorial sensor of bends and stresses on the base of belt shape microstructured fiber with three cores are proposed.
