| Abstract | In the paper the necessity of building a coherent system of life safety key concepts was grounded. System approach was chosen as a methodological basis of the research. Ergatic system served as a basic system for analysis. The authors analysed various approaches to understanding of danger: danger as a trouble threat, a potential source of harm, a negative impact, a potential result of interaction with the environment, property of habitat, the state of a system. Appropriateness of treatment of danger as a state was grounded and it was proved that this state should be analysed at the level of an ergatic system. In article the logical interrelation of safety, danger and danger realization as different states of ergatic system was shown, i.e. genesis of this phenomenon was presented. Correlation of subjective and objective in the concept of «danger», the presence of danger and consciousness and assessment of it were considered. The authors investigated the differences between the concepts of «source of danger» and «hazard» and proved the propriety of understanding a hazard as a property of the source of danger. Various definitions of risk were considered and expediency of treatment of risk as a danger measure was argued. It was shown that «danger», «source of danger», «hazards», «risk» should be considered as objective phenomena which can be differently reflected (perceived) by a person and, respectively, differently regulate his behavior.
