Abstract The results of research visibility in a smoky environment using opto-electronic system, based on the method of sampling for range, are reported. Developed and presented research methodology of system researching and characterization of the material base. The comparative evaluation of visibility in smoke with the using opto-electronic system, a lighting lantern and a thermal camera is presented.
