Abstract A computational technique for assessment of combustion product toxicity for different polyvinylchloride products (supports, profiles, flooring, paving, etc.) was developed. This method is based on established techniques, one of which is designed to determine the combustion product toxicity for profiles and profile articles, while another technique is for measuring these toxicity in flooring. Designed techniques use mathematical modeling of the relationship between the toxicity of gaseous combustion products formed by the thermal decomposition of polyvinylchloride materials. Obtained data demonstrated that the proposed method gives same accuracy as biological tests (coincidence in 100% cases). The developed method aligns to the requirement of the international standards and helps to minimise the use of experimental animals. It also allows substantially reducing the time of tests.
