Concept of development of scientific and technical support of regulatory activity in the field of nuclear and radiation safety

Abstract Purpose: The article is devoted to the development of scientific and technical support for regulatory activities in the field of nuclear and radiation safety in the Republic of Belarus. Methods: The analysis of the IAEA requirements for the organizational infrastructure in the field of nuclear and radiation safety, the analysis of international experience in providing scientific and technical support to the regulatory body in the field of nuclear and radiation safety. Findings: Particular attention is paid to attracting organizations having competences in special fields of knowledge to the provision of scientific and technical support to regulatory body in the field of nuclear and radiation safety. Application field of research: The international experience described in the article can be used to form the directions of the organization's activities of scientific and technical support to the regulatory body in the field of nuclear and radiation safety in the Republic of Belarus. Conclusions: The need to establish an organization of scientific and technical support for regulatory activities in the field of nuclear and radiation safety in the Republic of Belarus with the aim of providing independent, effective and competent scientific, technical, and consultative support to the regulatory body in the field of nuclear and radiation safety on an ongoing basis is substantiated. The main tasks of this organization are determined.
