Mudflows in Uzbekistan

Abstract Purpose. To review and analyze the mudflow phenomena on the territories of Uzbekistan, which are mainly transboundary with Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. To study the issues of mudflow-forming and mudflow phenomena in the republic, to assess the damage they cause and, on this basis, to develop the recommendations on complete solution for forecasting and protecting the population and territory of Uzbekistan from mudflows.
Methods. Statistics analyses of mudflow phenomena occurred in the Republic of Uzbekistan and the damage they cause.
Findings. Based on statistics analysis of mudflow phenomena on the territory of the Republic the conclusions have been drawn about the causes of their occurrence.
Application field of research. The results of the study on prediction of mudflow phenomena on the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan can be applied to the transboundary territories of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. Conclusion. The recommendations on some issues of mudflow phenomena forecasting in Uzbekistan have been developed.
